Wami Kata Team

The team is headed by Mandy Chapman who is the Manager responsible for daily operations. Mandy works closely with the management team consisting of Clinical Manager, Care Coordinator and other staff Marilyn Jackson, Head Cook to ensure that Wami Kata services continue to provide quality care outcomes for residents. Mandy also works closely and reports to the Board of Management as well as the Department of Social Services. Robert Ticehurst is Wami Kata’s Clinical Care Manager. (Bob) is responsible for all clinical care of residents at Wami Kata and liaises with health and medical specialist, doctors and other allied health such as physiotherapist, dietician and diabetic services to ensure that residents receive the best care possible. Bob has been a Registered Nurse for 40 years and has lateral experience in a range of settings including rural and remote communities, flying doctor service, paramedical, high dependency and aged care. Michelle Allen is the Care Coordinator for Wami Kata. Michelle is responsible for coordinating care of residents, working with families and residents and provides clinical support to Bob and other nurses at Wami Kata. Michelle has been with Wami Kata for 25 years. Mandy, Bob and Michelle make up the management team for Wami Kata Old Folks Home Inc.

Tanikka Warren is Executive Administration Officer to Mandy, Bob and Michelle. Tanikka is qualified in Business Administration and has been with Wami Kata for many years now.

Wami Kata provides nursing care on a 24/7 basis. All Enrolled Nurses are Aboriginal from different community backgrounds. This gives Wami Kata an edge in ensuring best care outcomes for our old people. Our EN’s are Samara Jackson, Cheryl Allen, Felicity Strangways, Katelyn Dadleh and Jamillia Allen. We have regular nursing meetings to ensure that everyone is informed and up to date with all aspects of residential care.

Personal Care Attendants provide hands on assistance in residential and community care. All carers have attained or are working toward Certificate 3 in Aged Care. Wami Kata carers are: Ian, Johnny, Jamie, Brett, Jonty, Christian, Parmillia, Ravinder, Liwayway, Xena, Belinda, Susan, Tina and Lyn.

Marilyn Jackson is Head Cook for Wami Kata. Marilyn is ably supported by Chloe Crilly who is also a Cook. Kitchen staff members are Rebecca Tanner, Edwina Fielding, Tracey Reid and Bettina Jackson.

Wami Kata has a dedicated Lifestyle team consisting of Robert Laube (choco) and Irene McKenzie. Both staff members work together to assist residents with a variety of activities from shopping, banking, outings and activities. Both staff members are also carers and from time to time supported by others who have skills in varying activities such as facials, manicures, fishing and other adventures.

Wami Kata outdoor areas are well maintained by Bruce Fielding. Ancillary services are provided by Raelene Buzzacott, Tina Bessel and Tracey Reid.
